Harmon Construction, Inc. (HCI) -- located in North Vernon, Indiana -- has been in the general contracting business since 1955 when William D. Harmon started the company as a part-time venture. In 1969, he resigned from the B & O Railroad after 25 years of service to operate the company on a full-time basis. His development of a full-time "total customer service" company was given a boost when his two sons returned during the early 1980s and added their full participation in management and operation of the business.
Both of Mr. Harmon's sons, Tom and Bill, are graduates of the University of Louisville. Bill attended the University of Louisville on a basketball scholarship. Upon graduation, he worked two years for a major construction firm before joining the family business. Bill is also a graduate of the Indiana Training Institute Construction Management Program. Tom received his BS degree from Indiana University and an MBA in marketing from the University of Louisville. He then spent seven years working for Cummins Engine Company in marketing and administration. This combination of experience and professionalism fuels HCI's reputation for quality work and reliable service.
